Presentation of a minimally traumatic method to measure brain pressure through a venous approach via the arm.

Brain pressure measurement may be entering a new era. For decades, intracranial pressure monitoring has typically required placement of a monitor through the skull. At the recent Cerebral Venous and CSF Disorders Summit, I presented a minimally traumatic method to measure brain pressure through a venous approach via the arm. Using 4F access, a Socrates intermediate catheter, and a fiberoptic pressure wire, pressures can be measured across the cerebral venous system with remarkable precision. Because the system is so atraumatic, it may be left in place and also allow positional pressure measurements. Understanding the dynamics of brain pressure may help us better diagnose and treat conditions such as #PulsatileTinnitus, Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, and other disorders. Exciting times ahead for the field of neurointervention and cerebral venous disorders. If you want to learn more about this method, DM me directly.
