Dr. Hernando Santamaria is a renowned neurosurgeon from Colombia who is widely recognized for his pioneering work in the diagnosis and treatment of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). He was born in Medellin, Colombia, and completed his medical degree at the University of Antioquia. He later pursued his residency in neurosurgery at the same institution, where he trained under the tutelage of Dr. Jorge Mejia.

Dr. Santamaria has been practicing neurosurgery for more than 40 years and is currently based at the San Vicente Foundation Hospital in Medellin, where he is the director of the neurosurgery department. He is also a professor of neurosurgery at the University of Antioquia and has been involved in training many young neurosurgeons.
