A new focused ultrasound study is offering fresh hope for people diagnosed with glioblastoma. Researchers found that pairing focused ultrasound with standard chemotherapy helped patients live significantly longer than those who received standard treatment alone.
By temporarily opening the blood–brain barrier, this approach allows more medication to reach the tumor, helping target cancer cells that often survive surgery, radiation, and chemo. Early results show that this technique may not only extend survival, but could one day help make GBM more manageable over time.
