Basal Cisternostomy, with Jutty Parthiban MD
In traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid blood obstructs the flow of CSF in basal cisterns which in turn locks up CSF in Virchow-Robin Space. This sudden reaction produces excessive fluid efflux in to the interstitial tissues (extracellular space), thus producing increased brain edema and intracranial pressure (ICP).
